Disconnected

Disconnect Over the course of the past few days, like many others, I was shocked to see such civil unrest in our nation. I needed a place to record my thoughts and decided to put them here. I haven't been inspired to paint or create a damn thing as I've been numb since this past weekend. Trying to compartmentalize all this unrest. Feeling what everyone has been feeling. Combing through my folder I came on this piece titled "Disconnect". My question this morning: "Why are we all so offended?" Early days of childhood weren't we all exposed to the teaching of tolerance? When did we all become so self-righteous?  Is this the face of our future? Expressions of pain and fear?   My conclusion this morning is that we ARE looking in the mirror and we don't like what we see in ourselves. We see our prejudices, we see our bigotry, we see our lack of tolerance brought on by own experiences. Each of us projects our reflection of who we are ...

What Could You Do?

Have you ever asked yourself the question- "What things could I do if I weren't so afraid?" I'm watching music videos of Kurt Cobain perform with Nirvana. Watching how out of control everything seems to be. How uninhibited he is while performing. Truly, he was a great performer. Do we sabotage our own success by hanging onto control? These are just some thoughts running through my head this morning. Getting geared up for the day thinking maybe I can find a new way. A new path to take, a new statement I can make. I am rather a visu...

That Homegrown Feeling

Today's Pick  Looking at Today's Pick I get a sense of that "Homegrown Feeling". That feeling of when I would comb through the garden and tussle the leaves to find a beautiful  eggplant or zucchini for our evening supper. This piece gives me peace. This piece brings me comfort and contentment reminding me of my homesteading days. The barn red background. The lightly washed crackle paste mimicking old plaster walls. The azo gold of the table bringing fond memories of the work table in the kitchen which was used for everything. From baking breads, making cheeses, to canning vegetables. This painting may look a complete mess to you but to me Today's Pick is a comfort food. Today's Pick was created using Golden HighFlow Acrylics and Golden Crackle Paste. If you would like to create your own piece here are the steps I used: I began with a 12x16 canvas board. Painting the surface of the board with Golden's Open Magenta and Hansa Yellow Medium. Allo...
